This year marks the 173rd birthday of the Medina County Fair. Open for just seven days (July 30-August 5), this historic fair will offer traditional fair rides and games, concessions, the Medina County Bicentennial Picture Contest, Pick-Up Stix Stilt Walkers, special guest Kane Brown and much more!

Shakespeare In The Square

A Medina tradition almost–but not quite–as old as Shakespeare himself will return to Medina Public Square on Labor Day weekend to provide four free nights of Elizabethan humor for all who attend. Beginning August 30, Shakespeare In The Square will perform a vintage circus-themed rendition of the classic Shakespearen play As You Like It. 

High School Principal Becomes New Assistant Superintendent of Wadsworth Schools

In June, Buckeye High School Principal, Gabe Tudor, was named the new Assistant Superintendent of Wadsworth Schools. His responsibilities will include human resources, buildings and grounds and school safety. At the young age of 35, Tudor has spent eight years of his career with Wadsworth Schools. According to The Medina Gazette, his two-year contract as the assistant superintendent begins this August. 

LeBron Bids Farewell to Cleveland

Four-time NBA MVP LeBron James announced in early July that he will leave the Cleveland Cavaliers to join the Los Angeles Lakers for the upcoming NBA season. This is the second time that LeBron has said goodbye to Cleveland, who drafted him from Akron in 2003. LeBron enters the LA team with a four-year, $154 million contract. 

Veterans Ride For Free

In late June, the Medina County Public Transit announced that they will allow all veterans in Medina County to ride public transit buses for free. To ride, veterans must show their Ohio veteran identification card, which can be obtained at the Medina County Recorder’s Office. The MCPT buses travel all across the county and have over 20 stops including the Medina Hospital, the library and Montville Plaza.

Best Pizza in Medina County

Courthouse Pizzeria won the judges’ and peoples’ choice as best pizza in Medina County at the Pizza Palooza on June 16. Other pizza shops that participated in the friendly competition were Gionino’s, Marco’s Pizza, Domino’s, Master Pizza and Pizza 800 Degrees.
