Scarlet Transportation: The Gift They'll Never Forget

With the holidays right around the corner, many find themselves scrambling for last minute gifts. But how do you choose the perfect present? It is hard to gift clothing, as sizes may be wrong or the fit may not be right. Knick knacks just pile up, and nobody wants to kick off the New Year feeling cluttered. What about gifting an experience, something that will make memories that will be cherished for years?

Scarlet Transportation & Adventure Tours is all about making memories. The business found its start three years ago when avid wine drinkers Eric and Judy Defibaugh decided to buy a bus one day.

“We enjoy trying local wines and touring local wineries,” explains Eric. “I had my CDL, so we decided to start offering winery tours on the weekends. It was an opportunity to let friends relax and enjoy a scenic cruise to wineries, where they could sample local wines and enjoy a behind the scenes look at production.”

It all started with a small bus and an idea, but now it has grown to include two buses, one that seats 24 and one that seats 27, and a variety of tour options that can be customized to quench your thirst for adventure.

“Our goal is to expand awareness of what is hiding in Ohio,” says Judy. “We offer a winery tour, a brewery tour, a waterfall tour, a lighthouse tour, and a few other seasonal specials. We can customize the tours depending on group preferences, and the bus can also be rented for events such as weddings, concerts, and birthday parties.”

Bus tours offer an incredible way to experience Ohio like never before. Winery and brewery tours consist of 3 stops, with tastings included, and typically include at least one facility tour per trip. The Scarlet Transportation team knows the most amazing attractions throughout the state, and they enthusiastically pass on that knowledge to their guests. But, at this time of year, they offer one spectacularly magical tour that has become a family tradition to many.

“From November 24 through December 30, we offer a Christmas Lights Tour,” explains Eric. “One year, we loaded our large family onto the bus and went out to look at lights. We had so much fun that we decided to offer it to the public, and it has truly become something special.”

Many will choose to exclusively rent the bus and take a tour with family and friends, creating memories that will be cherished for years and also sparking a new holiday tradition. A holiday tour consists of several stops, most of which are homes, at which you are able to get off of the bus and explore a winter wonderland of lights.

“Grandmas will bake cookies, kids will bundle up in pajamas, and some come in festive costumes,” says Eric. “I even have a Santa suit I can put on to make the event especially festive. We try to make tours personal, sometimes tailoring it around kids and other times decorating the bus for birthdays. We have a lot of fun with it, and our guests do, too.”

While the holiday tours are nearly booked up, it is not to late to start planning for 2018. Spectacular brewery tours and winery tours are right around the corner, and in the spring, so, too, are the return of the Covered Bridge Tours and Spring Wine & Cider Tours. You will be amazed at how many fantastic attractions call Ohio home, and along the way you’ll make memories that will last a lifetime.
