October 2017 Around Town

Brass Band Of The Western Reserve
Celebrates 20 years

It was in the Summer of 1997 that it became known that the experienced and successful brass band director, Dr Keith M Wilkinson, had moved from Britain and was residing in the area.  This knowledge inspired a group of brass and percussion players to invite Keith to direct a couple of sessions reading brass band literature.  The enthusiasm generated by these evenings led to the formation of the band and it has shared its vibrant sounds with countless audiences since that time.

BBWR is delighted to once again present its Concert Series at Medina Performing Arts Center and the 2017-18 season commences on Saturday, October 7th, with a performance entitled Let’s Celebrate!  Among the popular items on the program that night will be the premiere performance of a march specially written for the band by prominent brass band composer, and good friend of BBWR’s music director, Philip Sparke.  The celebratory march is titled Heritage and is a tribute to the outstanding music the band has presented over the last 20 years.
