Coastal Cuisine in Copley 7

In Northeast Ohio, we are a long way from the ocean. Fortunately, though, there is an exciting new location on Montrose Restaurant Hill that pairs the taste of the coast with old-fashioned Midwestern warmth.

Upon arriving at Kingfish Seafood, the first taste of your nautical experience is actually a feast for the eyes. The exterior of the restaurant is remniscent of a coastal New England home, as blue and rich as the water from which your meal was recently caught. A swordfish statue majestically greets visitors from its perch above the building.

Inside, the seaside splendor continues. From the Harbor Room, where intimate parties and corporate events are hosted beneath a chandelier that seems to be bubbling up from the deep, you are instantly transported to an artistically aquatic paradise.

Kingfish is the newest of eight fine dining destinations run by locally owned Hospitality Restaurants. The kitchen is under the expert direction of Executive Chef Marc Standen, who’s supervised the group’s award winning Blue Point Grille in downtown Cleveland for the last ten years.  He’s made the trek down I-77 to lend his seafood expertise bringing authentic flavor to regional American dishes.

Chef Standen, who grew up spending summers on the coast, proves there is a true art to coastal cuisine. Guests have the opportunity to enjoy a daily selection of Chilled Blue Point and Boutique Oysters, Seared Big Eye Tuna, Maine Lobster Noodle Casserole, and a spicy Creole Shrimp Stew. The New Bedford Scallops have quickly become a signature dish, with the scallops pan-seared alongside brussels sprouts, bacon and hazelnut sweet potatoes.

Fusing classically American dishes with a hint of contemporary expression makes it easy to accommodate everyone’s tastes. The menu includes much more than seafood, offering a full array of hand cut Certified Angus Beef Steaks, Maple Glazed Duroc Pork Chop, and house-smoked Lamb Belly which is one of the restaurant’s hottest dishes. There is even a separate dinner menu to accommodate vegan and vegetarian diets.

“There is something here for everyone – from start to finish,” says Chef Standen. “From a hand-crafted cocktail at the bar all the way to delicious homemade desserts, Kingfish Seafood makes the perfect backdrop to a fantastic evening out.”
