It’s February, and love is in the air! While you may be conjuring up visions of Valentine’s Day, it is just as easy to think of the love you have for the people around you. And nobody understands love like mothers, the unsung heroes of Midwestern small-town culture.
This month, we would like to spread the love to local ladies who go above and beyond in everything they do. It is no secret that some pretty remarkable women live in and guide our community, and in this issue we celebrate them and their contributions. From a REALTOR© who is raising education standards in her industry to two 2013 Medina High School grads that are helping families and individuals impacted by cancer, the women I met while writing this issue are awe-inspiring.
When I first started writing, seasoned local writer (Brunswick’s own purple-haired celebrity) “Sam” Boyer wisely told me something along the lines of, “Everybody has a story. They may not realize it, but little things that feel normal to them may seem pretty remarkable to others.” That wisdom is something I continue to recall when I am out hunting for stories. The women I connected with this month understood that they had each accomplished something amazing, but each was very humble about sharing their stories. They deserve to have their stories heard, though, and I think you will agree that these awesome locals have stories worth hearing.
As always, we are inspired by community. Keep in touch.
